Recovery + Education

Overview

Discovery Academy is a school of choice available to any student in recovery for substance use or co-occurring disorders. It’s one of only three schools like it in Oregon, combining regular classes with strong support services to help students learn, grow, and thrive in school and in life. Students will have access to licensed drug and alcohol counselors, mental health providers, and community resources to support them while they earn their diploma.

Background

In July 2023, House Bill 2767 passed establishing crucial funding and standards for recovery high schools in Oregon. In September 2024, the Oregon Department of Education announced the first three approved recovery high schools, including Discovery Academy, and marking a critical step towards supporting students in recovery statewide.
